American painter Norman Rockwell created some of the most enduring images of the 20th century. Rockwell’s granddaughter, Abigail, will be on hand to take us through Stella Sung’s recent symphonic work titled Rockwell Reflections. The piece is a moving tribute to Rockwell’s legacy, expertly setting five of his best-known images to music. The concert will conclude with Mussorgsky’s famed Pictures at an Exhibition, one of the great orchestral showpieces of all time.

Celebrated American actor Dennis Quaid joins the Philharmonic to narrate the season finale, “Made in America.” Quaid, known for films including Great Balls of Fire, The Right Stuff, The Rookie, and A Dog’s Journey, will tackle one of the most significant orchestral narrations: A Lincoln Portrait by Aaron Copland. Quaid will then lend his voice as a singer in the original version of the American classic Take Me Out to the Ballgame. This version is being reconstructed by our own Library of Congress Unearthing America’s Musical Treasures team and will be heard live in its original form for the first time in more than a century. Play ball!
